If it is dark, I will draw the light
This piece is based on my son and I. The reference image inspired by a makeshift photoshoot of a moment I felt was truly special: my son was nine months old, finally able to sit on my shoulders and hold his head up on his own. Through my canvases, I felt like I was creating a new world meant for both of us.
In this piece, I wanted to capture the beautiful way I choose to bring sun into life's darkness, and how that power of creativity passes directly down to my son. He possesses that light and so much more. Like all of us, the magic we create isn't just something the children of this world get to enjoy—they use it to create their own.
